Carbon Club – the sequel

Posted on Tuesday, January, 25th, 2022

Since its launch in 2019 our Carbon Club membership has grown, and the interests and needs of its members have evolved. It became clear to us over late 2021 that our bolt on tech – added to our website after it was put together – wasn’t up to the job anymore. (Those of you that have had some fun and games trying to join the Club or update your subscriptions over the years would probably say it was never up to scratch – thanks for your patience). We started work in December 2021 with some New Zealand based developers and we will have a new Carbon Club ready to go by the end of March – we’ll send out an invite when the time comes.

One thing we will need to do at that point is cancel all memberships of the current Club that were set up before 30th October 2021. We will do that manually this end, and issue everyone with a final certificate showing the tonnes CO2 mitigated since joining. We hope you’ll want to go to the new Club and open a new account, but understand we’ve landed you with some administration and do apologise for that – due to changes in the way things are set up it’s not possible to transfer everyone over (or not possible to do it in a way that won’t end up causing utter chaos).

The new Club will offer a few things the current Club doesn’t and we feel it’s a definite improvement:

·       One-off purchases, as well as subscriptions

·       Footprint calculators

·       A tracking system to show a reconciliation of Club members’ purchase against the credits we have retired for members – providing more transparency

·       Access to a wide range of projects – UK and international

You’ll hear from us in a month or so about the next steps, and meantime thanks for the all the contributions you’ve made to UK nature projects over the last three years.
