College Valley is owned by the Sir James Knott Trust, the trust founded with the endowment of the North-East industrialist and philanthropist. The intention of the trust in owning and managing the estate is to recreate the local natural landscape, and enable others to enjoy the beauty of the site through free public access. The estate is situated in north Northumberland in the heart of the Cheviot Hills, an area of renowned beauty. The estate extends to nearly 4,800 hectares and lies entirely within the Northumberland National Park (NNP).
