Sarah's Wood

Woodland creation

Sarah’s Wood is a new native woodland in England, transforming former farmland into a vibrant, wildlife-friendly space. Planted in 2021, it brings lasting benefits for the climate, biodiversity, and the local community.

Climate actionLife on land
About this project

Sarah’s Wood is a 17-hectare native woodland that is helping to reshape the English countryside. Created on land once used for silage cutting, the woodland is strategically positioned alongside existing forest, extending valuable habitats and forming new ecological corridors for local wildlife.

The woodland features a carefully selected mix of native species designed to support biodiversity, particularly woodland birds and red squirrels. Its proximity to existing woodland makes it especially valuable for connecting fragmented habitats and improving overall landscape resilience.

The carbon benefits of the woodland are equally significant. Over the next 100 years, it is expected to sequester 11,810 tonnes of CO₂, according to calculations validated under the Woodland Carbon Code. Carbon finance was critical to making the project possible, enabling land use change that would not otherwise have occurred.

Sarah’s Wood is not only delivering environmental impact but also providing social value. The woodland offers a natural space for the local community to explore, enjoy, and connect with nature as it matures over time.

This is a woodland with roots in the future. By supporting the project through carbon credit purchases, businesses and individuals can help protect biodiversity, tackle climate change, and invest in a thriving landscape for generations to come.

Quotation Open

I choose to work with Forest Carbon time and again because they offer a fair price for our carbon, which in turn enables us to invest in more land and create more native woodland, like Sarah’s Wood.

Co-benefits

Habitat creation

Habitat creation

This new woodland extends existing forest, creating vital corridors and safe havens for local species to move, nest, and thrive.

Air quality

Air quality

As the woodland matures, its trees will filter pollutants and capture fine particulates, helping to clean the air for surrounding communities.

Biodiversity uplift

Biodiversity uplift

The mix of native species supports a range of wildlife, from woodland birds to red squirrels, helping to rebuild ecological richness across the site.
