Josh's Wood
Josh’s Wood is a new native woodland in England, transforming former farmland into a vibrant, wildlife-friendly space. Planted in 2025, it brings lasting benefits for the climate, biodiversity, and the local community.

Josh’s Wood is a 4.65hectare native broadleaf woodland on the outskirts of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. The project is planted with locally sourced native species including alder, willow, birch, sycamore and other broadleaves.
The new woodland will provide valuable habitat for characteristic local wildlife, supporting birds such as willow warbler, green woodpecker, tawny owl and winter thrushes, as well as mammals, invertebrates and pollinators. Over time, the developing canopy and woodland floor will contribute to a richer landscape mosaic alongside the Wolds’ meadows, hedgerows and chalk streams.
Over the next 100 years, Josh’s Wood is expected to sequester over 3,500 tonnes of CO₂e, according to calculations validated under the Woodland Carbon Code. Carbon finance was critical to making the project possible, enabling land use change that would not otherwise have occurred.
In addition to the many environmental benefits, the project is also providing social value. The woodland offers a natural space for the local community to explore, enjoy, and connect with nature as it matures over time.
