Kinnaur Hydro
Kinnaur Hydro is a grid-connected hydro power plant on the Sutlej River and its tributaries in the Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh, India. The project generates electricity using renewable hydro energy.

The term Kinnaur Hydro refers to multiple hydropower developments in the Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh (including Baspa II and other run-of-river plants). These projects collectively contribute to renewable electricity generation in a mountainous region with limited grid connectivity, helping reduce reliance on diesel and coal generation and supporting India’s clean energy commitments.
While these projects provide employment opportunities and energy infrastructure, their sustainability is tied to careful ecological management, robust environmental impact assessments, and meaningful community engagement to balance energy production with preservation of local environments and cultures.

Certified under the Verra Carbon Standard (VCS), the world’s most widely used carbon crediting program, endorsed by ICROA.
The project activity utilizes hydro resource for generating electricity which otherwise would have been generated through alternate fossil fuel based power plants, thereby contributing to reduction in specific emissions […] including GHG emissions.
